Chemical Peels

A chemical peel involves applying a solution to the skin to improve the texture of the skin by removing its damaged outer layers.  The solution used is frequently derived from fruit, vegetable or plant sources.  Common peel agents include:  enzymes, vitamin A, lactic acid, salicylic acid and trichloroacetic acid.  The peels may be composed of a single agent or a combination to produce the desired effect.  Chemical peels increase cellular turnover which in turn refine the outer layer to the skin, known as the epidermis, to treat varying skin conditions.  Peels range from superficial, mid-depth to deep.  A tingling or heat sensation is normal and will subside quickly.  We will provide a fan to help increase your comfort level.

Chemical peels are traditionally performed on the face but other areas of the body may benefit from this type of peeling.  Superficial peels traditionally have a very quick recovery time, you should be able to go back to work right afterwards and have little to no flaking over the next several days.  Mid-depth peels result in several days of heavier flaking or peeling.  Deep peels will require more down time, but give the greatest results.

A series of treatments are always recommended.  Our licensed highly experienced staff will analyze your skin and help you choose the best method to reach your goal.

    Pumpkin Enzyme Peel

A gentle, but powerful, highly anti-oxidant exfoliant which is utilized to revitalize and rejuvenate dull surface layers of the skin.  Pumpkin contains high concentration levels of vitamins A and C which activate the exfoliation process and stimulate cellular turnover for healthier surface cells tomorrow. This peel can be used on sensitive skinned individuals.

    Glycolic Peel

Glycolic acid has a long safety record for removing a thin layers of dull surface layers of skin. Glycolic having  a small enough molecular structure to penetrate deeper into the follicles, it is able to loosen dead cells and debris that may be clogging the pores.  This makes glycolic acid great for acneic skin, but it is also extremely valuable for diminishing fine lines and pigmentation, making it great for mature sun-damaged skin.
Recommended in a series, one peel weekly for 6 weeks.

    Salicylic Peel

Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid.  If you are allergic to asprin this peel is not for you.  This peel promotes the exfoliation of the outer surface of the skin, it is anti-bacterial and analgesic, so it is perfect for oily, acneic individuals and anyone with sensitive skin.

    Lactic Acid Peel

Lactic acid is a gentle alpha-hydroxy acid which is naturally found in our body.  Lactic accelerates cellular turnover and attracts water to the skin for improved hydration levels. Another benefit of this acid is that it helps reduce hyper-pigmentation.
Especially helpful for ethnic and sensitive skin.

    Sensi Peel/Ultra Peel

A combination of lactic acid and trichloroacetic acid mixed with several highly effective brightening ingredients.  This combination will gradually lighten hyper-pigmentation, while clearing acne and smoothing skin texture.  There is mild stinging and burning but little to no flaking.  The sensi peel is great for sensitive, rosacea and ethnic skin prone to excessive pigmentation. The ultra peel is similar but stronger and will help rejuvenate prematurely aging skin.  Both of these peels may be combined with microdermabrasion for optimal results.  Your aesthetician may recommend this combination.

    Modified Jessner's Peel

Designed to treat more extensive damage and excessive pigmentation.  It is made from a combination of lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol
( with or without hydroquinone ).  This combination enables more of the damaged layers of skin to peel off for a more dramatic result. For your this peel to be safe and effective it is imperative for you to prepare your skin several weeks in advance.

    Vi Peel

Designed for people on the go who would like more visible results than a light peel offers, but cannot commit to the downtime of a deeper peel.  Unlike most other peels, the combination of ingredients makes it safe and effective for most individuals.  Using a combination of several acids, vitamins and microelements, it has been proven effective for the treatment of acne and the symptoms of aging. It is highly effective on hyper-pigmentation.

    Obagi Blue Peel (TCA)

Is a procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of you skin.  Using a specified concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to slow penetration; the Obagi Blue peel enables monitoring for the appropriate depth to effectively remove the damaged layers of skin from the face or other areas of the body.  The body can then replace these damaged cells with healthier ones, allowing the skin to return to a more youthful looking state.  The result is tighter, smoother, less wrinkled skin with a more even coloration.  The blue peel is a tolerable procedure that in most cases does not require sedation and may be repeated in approximately 8 week intervals until desired results are achieved.  Several weeks of skin preparation are required for safety and optimal results.
