Lipotherme™

Liposuction for Neck and Chin or Body

Lipotherme™ (Laser Assisted Lipolysis) –is a less invasive procedure for the removal of fat.  A laser liquefies fat and coagulates blood vessels for less bleeding, swelling and bruising while causing the skin to tighten and re-drape into your new contour. This procedure has a much quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction and is minimally invasive, meaning that it can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation rather than general anesthesia.  The procedure is very safe with only minimal side effects.

The excess skin and fatty tissue beneath the jaw is referred to as a double chin.  Many patients with this problem can be treated successfully with the Lipotherme System.  This approach allows the removal of the fat from the neck, chin and jaw region through a small incision under the chin and direct tightening of the skin to establish an improved contour and silhouette.  If there is too much loose neck skin and sagging muscle, a face lift or a neck lift procedure would be necessary to properly correct the problem.

When the Lipotherme System is being used on the body, areas such as “love handles”, the abdomen, inner and outer thighs or possibly the “bra bulge” on the back, local anesthesia is placed in the fatty tissue just below the skin.  When the patient is comfortable, tiny entrance incisions are made and the laser liquefies the fat so a small wand can be used to suction out the liquid tissue.  The laser uses a wavelength specifically targeted to melt fat and break up fibrous bands while causing the skin to tighten.

The Lipotherme System is designed to be used on stubborn pockets of fat that despite proper diet and exercise, just do not want to respond.  This system is not for weight loss.

How much downtime is involved? – We normally recommend a day or two of rest.

How much discomfort will I feel after the anesthesia has worn off? – It feels similar to the aches and pains that follow a vigorous workout.

Will I have to wear any special garments after the procedure? – Compression garments are optional but they do help with controlling swelling, which may occur.

How safe is the Lipotherme System? – The system has been used in Europe for the past several years with a good track record of safety and effectiveness.

What areas of the body can be sculpted with the Lipotherme System? – Almost any area of the body that has been resistant to proper diet and regular exercise.
